Mortals:Eidolons

The Quill already spent a season each on the ‘civilized’ people including: dwarves, elves, urchins (smalfolk) and orcs; along with humans. There are other mortal beings across the land. Mortals are considered to be sentient people who have a finite existence and are subject to death: they are not immortal. Follow the posts this season and the mortals tag to learn more about other sentient beings of Taluma and fantasy settings in general. Note: the classifications of the people of Taluma are different than the ‘monster types’ in core rules.

The most powerful mortals are the eidolons. Eidolons are divine beings that are not immortal. They can be corporeal or incorporeal and often represent or are the manifestation of preternatural essences like the elements or radiant power. Eidolons do not die as mortals do, yet they also are not immortal as the gods are, instead their energy returns to its source and powerful spirits may be able to restore themselves to their previous form.

There are three classifications of eidolons: elementals, infernals, and luminals. Infernals and luminals are typically corporeal with intelligence and a personality while elementals are manifestations of their essence. Elementals are of the elemental creature type, Infernals are the fiend creature type, and luminals are the celestial creature type.

Eidolons of Taluma

Luminals are typically servants of the Luminaeries while Infernals are servants of the Nemeses Sezsezkya and Gwyven, and powerful elementals are the servants of the Caelestine.

Infernals

Infernals are the minions of the Nemeses Sezsezkya and Gwyven, the diametric beings to luminals. It is said that introduction of the blood of Gwyven, voluntarily or involuntarily, into a mortal or beast can transform them into a demon while Sezsezkya’s corruption can make a mortal a devil. First generation infernals are the strongest and include among them the greater demons and devils.

Demons tend to be more bestial in nature, in appearance and temperament. Each demon can have one or more features of beasts such as horns, wings, and tails. They are aberrant men, akin to abominations which are aberrant beasts. Devils are more humanoid in appearance than demons and also are more cunning and strategic.
